Marco’s Pizza is fairly soy-free

We had pretty much given up on all pizza franchises, as every one that we ever checked always had soy in the crust (“dough conditioning”, I think. Not sure what that means, but that’s been relayed to us on at least one occasion) or in the sauce itself.

At the insistence of our friends Kim & Bill, we went ahead and checked out Marco’s Pizza. We figured it’d be a quick “no”, but the more we dug, the more we were pleasantly surprised. Aside from their Italian sausage and chicken, the kids can have all of the other (non-dessert) toppings. All of the dessert pizzas have soy in them.

Getting to their allergy menu is kind of frustrating. They won’t even let you look at a menu unless you pick a location, and I still had to google their allergy information. Here’s the link we found: https://www.nutritionix.com/marcos-pizza/menu/special-diets/premium. Be warned, ingredient lists are shown in boxes that only show 5 lines of text, so you have to do a lot of scrolling to see everything (or copy and paste the ingredients into a text editor).

This is the one we ate at, but they are a nationwide chain.

    • Papa John’s allergen guide doesn’t list soy for their dough, but soybean oil is one of six ingredients. We found this out the hard way, after a reaction. However, their unsourced wings are safe.
