Arby’s Mint Shake (minus Andes Mints) is soy free

This was a pleasant surprise. We figured there was no way the kids could have the Mint Chocolate Swirl Shake at Arby’s, minus the Andes mints.

For those of you interested in the components: it’s made from their Vanilla Shake base, mint syrup (shipped in special for this promotion), the chocolate frosting from the chocolate turnovers, whipped cream, and of course Andes mints.

Mint Chocolate Swirl Shake: Vanilla Shake Mix (whole milk, sugar, high fructose corn syrup, nonfat milk, grade A sweet whey, cream, natural & artificial vanilla flavor, mono and diglycerides, cellulose gum, guar gum, carrageenan, dipotassium phosphate, sodium citrate, sodium chloride, sodium carbonate, annatto, caramel color), Mint Chocolate Syrup (high fructose corn syrup, water, corn syrup, natural and artificial flavors, citric acid, potassium sorbate and sodium benzoate [preservatives], polysorbate 80, vanilla extract, yellow 5, blue 1), Andes® Mints (sugar, partially hydrogentated vegetable oils [palm kernel & palm], cocoa [processed with alkali], nonfat milk, lactose, milk protein concentrate, soy lecithin [emulsifier], natural and artificial flavors, peppermint oil, yellow 5, blue 1), Chocolate Swirl (sugar, water, sweetened condensed skim milk [skim milk, sugar], palm oil, high fructose corn syrup, nonfat dry milk, cocoa [processed with alkali], corn syrup, natural and artificial flavor, salt, disodium phosphate, artificial flavor [vanillin], potassium sorbate [preservative]), Whipped Cream (grade A cream, sucrose, corn syrup, nonfat milk solids, monoglycerides, natural & artificial flavors, salt, nitrous oxide gas). One of the best things about Arby’s is that their ingredient lists are thorough and updated regularly. One of the worst things about Arby’s is that their ingredient lists are thorough and updated regularly, but the old ones are never removed. I swear I can stumble across Arby’s ingredient PDFs from the turn of the century, but have the worst time finding the most current ingredient list. Here’s the most current Arby’s Ingredients – March, 2016, as of this writing. We actually had to piece together the soy-free status of the Mint Chocolate Swirl Shake with the helpful employees at our local Arby’s — Had I been able to locate this on my phone, we could have saved them the effort.

I'm trying to track allergen information for every restaurant that we eat at. With my son's soy allergy, each time we eat at a restaurant, it can take up to 30 minutes to figure out what he can eat. Especially since most restaurants don't accurately represent their usage of soy.

We're tracking what soy free (including soybean oil free) foods our son can eat at all restaurants we go to. If you've got a soy allergy in your family and have any information you can share, please contact us.
